Are you an experienced professional within the museums, galleries and heritage sector who would like to share your skills and knowledge?
Going Places is a new programme of exhibitions touring the UK – created in collaborations between museums and their communities. We are recruiting mentors to support colleagues across the cohort of twenty participating museums and galleries through a bespoke mentoring programme developed in consultation with the cohort and wider sector (see Going Places Mentoring Research and Toolkit for further details).
Mentors are not required to be in more senior roles than mentees, we will be looking for skills and knowledge relevant to the mentee’s goals and ambitions, and the skills and characteristics required to be an effective mentor. Training and ongoing support will be provided, and we hope that mentors will benefit from networking, increased confidence, and opportunities for career development.
We are looking for mentors for Phase 1 of the Going Places Mentoring Programme, which will take place between March 2026 – February 2027, with online meetings taking place between mentors and mentees roughly once a month. We are also looking for mentors for one off ‘micro-mentoring’ sessions focused on specific themes or problems.
Apply online here: Going Places Mentoring Programme – Expression of Interest: Mentors – Fill in form by Friday 6 February 2026.
Any questions or to apply in an alternative format more please contact Laura Crossley, Going Places Mentoring Lead.
Going Places is an Art Fund programme made possible with generous support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Julia Rausing Trust.
