In 2021, the National Museum Directors’ Council (NMDC) and The Exhibitions Group launched the Principles and Guide to Lending and Borrowing—a shared commitment to making museum loans across the UK more open, practical, and accessible.
Four years on, we want to know: how’s it going?
This survey – titled ‘Lending and Borrowing Today: 2025 Review‘ – is for anyone involved in lending or borrowing between UK collections. Your responses will help assess how widely the Principles have been adopted, where challenges remain, and how future guidance can better support the sector.
It takes around 15 minutes to complete and is open until 5pm, Monday 10 November 2025. Please answer based on your organisation’s UK loans, and feel free to consult colleagues if needed.
