Museums and Galleries Exhibition Tax Relief (MGETR) Webinar

Monday 23 March 2026, 12:30 – 13:30, Online (Zoom webinar), free of charge

The webinar will be led by Museums and Galleries Exhibition Tax Relief (MGETR) expert, Mo Suleman, who will explain why MGETR is more than just an accounting exercise, and why it’s a vital source of funding that can directly support creativity, staffing and public access in museums and galleries.

Mo will be joined by Rachel Crewes, CEO at Harewood House, who will share how Harewood House maximised the benefits of the scheme, working with Mo to successfully claim far more than they had previously received or expected.

As part of the booking process, you can submit your questions about MGETR, which we will endeavour to answer during the webinar (time permitting).

Automated closed captions are provided as standard.  Live captions and/or BSL interpretation can be provided if requested before Monday 2 March 2026.

We are able to offer this webinar free of charge at the point of access thanks to Mo Suleman, Harewood House, and support using public funding by Arts Council England.  Places are limited, so only book a place if you are able to attend live.  A recording of the webinar will be made available on The Exhibitions Group website in April 2026.

Speakers:

Mo Suleman, MGETR Expert

Mo is a qualified accountant, Finance Director, trustee, and museum-sector specialist with a particular focus on helping cultural organisations make better use of Museums and Galleries Exhibition Tax Relief (MGETR).  Mo is currently the Treasurer of the Museums Association, and previously served as Director of Resources at Derby Museums.  That combination means he understand both the strategic and practical realities of running museums — from governance and budgets through to exhibitions and delivery on the ground.

Over the last few years, he’s worked as an external consultant on MGETR, helping museums across the UK secure over £2m in additional tax relief.  Much of this has come from identifying under-claimed costs, correcting common misconceptions around eligibility, and reviewing historic submissions.  Mo is very passionate about Museums and wants to do his bit in helping them become more financially sustainable.

Mo holds a number of other non-exec roles with Derbyshire County Cricket Club, Marketing Derby and University of Derby. Mo was named Entrepreneur of the Year (2017) by the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce and Finance Leader and Overall Leader of the Year (2024) by the East Midlands Business Desk.

Rachel Crewes, CEO at Harewood House

With recent roles at Hepworth Wakefield and the Science Museum Group, Rachel has been Harewood’s CEO since March 2023.  She joined the charity in 2018 to help re-imagine the concept of the country house in the 21st century and grow earned income.  As Commercial Director, Rachel headed up the organisation’s trading company, increasing income by over 50% across major outdoor events, venue hire, retail, filming and catering.  As part of Harewood’s executive team, she has made a significant contribution to the bold artistic programme and vision for engaging with Harewood’s diverse communities.

Rachel has a MA in Heritage Management from the Ironbridge Institute, University of Birmingham, and a BA History with History of Art, specialising in the English Country House.
