Founded in 1985, The Exhibitions Group is a non-profit professional development organisation devoted to supporting the exchange of exhibitions to extend public knowledge and enjoyment of historical and contemporary culture.
The Exhibitions Group works across the UK and internationally with organisations of all sizes and types. Our members’ exhibitions represent all disciplines, including arts, craft, design, social history, natural history, and science.
We undertake research and advocate for a better understanding of the benefits of touring, offer a range of professional development opportunities, and organise an annual event to support networking and learning.
Membership is open to all those involved in organising or hosting exhibitions in museums, galleries, libraries, art and science centres and other public organisations. We provide ways to share ideas, materials and resources. Our corporate membership scheme also helps to support and develop the sector.
The Exhibitions Group’s membership is its strength, bringing together a diversity of expertise and an awareness of current issues. It provides each member with up-to-date resources and professional networking opportunities. Take a look at our Membership page for full membership details.
The Exhibitions Group’s Board of Trustees is elected by our members at our annual AGM and meets four times a year in venues across the UK. We are staffed by a part-time secretariat of four people who work across professional development, membership, administration, web and marketing.
We’re an Arts Council England Investment Principles Support Organisation, which means funding thanks to taxpayers plays a huge part in supporting our work.
The Exhibitions Group delivers a lively programme of events, online trainings, an annual Online Share Session, and our annual in-person event, Exhibitions Connect.
